Hi, I'm Joan Reeves. One of these days I'm going to take the time to get some new pics made. Until then, you're stuck looking at this fuzzy photograph.
I write funny romance novels. At the risk of sounding corny, I confess that I find joy in the written word – reading and writing them. Sharing the stories that spin around inside my head is my ultimate triumph. Fiction Arena I've been print published by the big dogs in New York. Been there; done that; got the tee shirt. That's about all I got. Now I've become an independent self-publishing author, or Indie Author as it's commonly called. I'm publishing my backlist and original fiction as ebooks. My books have all been on various bestseller lists. They're available at All Romance Ebooks, Amazon for Kindle, Barnes&Noble for Nook, iTunes Apple Bookstore, OmniLit, Smashwords, and XinXii, the European Digital Publishing Platform. Most of my books are romance. I love writing romance, especially romances that make you smile and sometimes laugh out loud. I love to tell the story of a man and a woman who were made for each other, but they just don't know it. Yet. Why? Because I think the the world needs more stories about the power of love to change people, and I like to tell those stories with passion and humor because the world can be a pretty grim place too much of the time. Love and laughter gets us through the hard times. Nonfiction On the nonfiction side of writing, I co-authored and edited my mother's memoir Memory Lane: My Sentimental Journey, and I'm publishing a series of books that are compiled from the posts on my popular, long-running blog SlingWords. I've been a freelance writer for more than 20 years and will still take on the occasional project if the price is right. (That's what freelance writing is all about--earning an income from your writing skills.) I've sold just about every written form under my own name, pseudonyms, and as a ghost writer. I don't even know how many thousands of articles I've written. My Backstory On the personal side, I have the most wonderful husband in the whole wide world. He thinks I'm beautiful, brilliant, and fabulous. (What a discerning man!) I was blessed with a brave dad who fought on D-Day and a beautiful mother who loved history and books. I guess they are my inspiration for a hero who does the right thing and a heroine who is intelligent and no man's fool. With four children, who think they are adults, and a ghost dog, I have all the ingredients for a life filled with love and warmed by laughter. Don't forget the articles in The Archives for more good reading.

Like we say in Texas: "Y'all come on in."
December sneaked up on me. How can it be the last month of the year? I guess it's really true that time flies when you're having fun. I've had a lot of fun this year in writing and publishing--and selling ebooks! Hurray for Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, iPad, and all the other devices that enable one to read books digitally.
Still Overworked & Over-scheduled I guess that's just the way my life always is. Last week, I published Old Enough To Know Better, Book 1 of The Good, The Bad, and the Girly series. This book is a little more steamy than the others, but that's what the story demanded. If you read it, you'll understand what I mean. That brings my published ebooks to 6 romance and 1 nonfiction since late March. I'm currently working on converting another of my print books to an ebook and hope to publish Nobody's Cinderella in a few days. Of course, I'm still writing my blog SlingWords every day, and I started Writing Hacks, a free subscription newsletter for writers. Readers can subscribe also, but I don't want to bore readers so I've dedicated Wordplay, my website subscription newsletter, for readers. December Update Welcome has this note from me. Be sure and check out the Christmas Ornament ad if you value words. Joan's Books will be updated in a few days when the other new book publishes so check back. Wordplay, my website subscription newsletter for readers, has been emailed. This issue contains some links to several of the Holiday Book Sales. Most of the ebooks listed cost only $.99. Also, the newsletter contains a humor piece, For Those Who Take Life Too Seriously and The Story Behind Silent Night as told to me by a descendant of the man who wrote the music for the beloved Christmas carol. Feel free to pass the newsletter on to others. Why not subscribe if you don't already? The Archives contain all previously published articles on the website beginning only in 2010. The articles are organized in categories that make sense. Some may appear in more than one category since something for Promotion may also qualify as Business of Writing. Remember It's never too late to live happily ever after. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! The holidays are coming. Give yourself, and maybe your writing friends, an ornament that celebrates the written word. This porcelain ornament is available in oval or round. For Gifts and Promotion products designed by a writer for writers, shop at Joan's Cafe Press shop The WRITE Way. Unique designs not available elsewhere. Everything is priced low for writers' budgets. Hey, I'm a writer so I know all about writers' budgets. Value-priced bulk orders available on many products. High quality? Yes! Unique designs? Yes! Low cost? Yes!
